Pratt Institute to honor Inter Parfums and Jean Madar.

Pratt Institute will honor Inter Parfums, Inc. and Jean Madar, chairman of the board, CEO, for its outstanding commitment to package design at its annual Art of Packaging Award Gala. This year’s event will be held at the University Club of New York on June 21st, beginning with a 6:30 PM cocktail reception followed by an 8 PM dinner. A few of Inter Parfums brands, and recent fragrance launches, are shown above. The event benefits the Marc Rosen Scholarship and Education Fund for Packaging by Design. Now in its 27th year, the fund is the world’s only scholarship for masters degree-level students looking to pursue careers in cosmetics and packaging design. The sold-out gala last year broke a record, raising more than $400k. To date, the event has raised more than $3.5 million for scholarships, benefitting more than 100 students, many of whom have went on to become industry leaders. Marc Rosen, president of Marc Rosen Associates, renowned package designer, and author of the memoir, Rubbing Shoulders: My Life with Popes, Princes, Moguls and Movie Stars, teaches a graduate course in package design at Pratt Institute. The Honorees: Inter Parfums & Jean Madar Inter Parfums is a global prestige fragrance company, whose products are sold in over 100 countries, generating sales of nearly $500 million in 2015. The company’s European operations are handled by its subsidiary, Interparfums SA, based in Paris. Its U.S. operations, Inter Parfums USA, LLC, is headquartered in New York City. Inter Parfums is the fragrance partner for Abercrombie & Fitch, Agent Provocateur, Anna Sui, Balmain, Banana Republic, Boucheron, Coach, Dunhill, Hollister, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Montblanc, Oscar de la Renta, Paul Smith, Repetto, Shanghai Tang, S.T. Dupont and Van Cleef & Arpels. The company also owns the Lanvin fragrance brand and the Rochas brand for fragrance, fashion and accessories. Inter Parfums History Inter Parfums was co-founded in Paris by Jean Madar and his lifelong friend and business partner, Philippe Benacin. Benacin worked in Paris, while Madar came to New York with a business plan and a few thousand dollars. Together they built their fragrance company around products that had the unique “Made in France” distinction. In early 1988, Inter Parfums went public. Over the past three decades, Inter Parfums has built its reputation on innovation, quality and the ability to capture the DNA of each brand in its fragrance portfolio by working closely with the brand owner and drawing upon its home grown brand building expertise.
